We’re looking for an ambitious, positive, energetic, and intelligent Business Development Manager to join our New Business team. As a business development manager, you’ll identify new business opportunities to generate revenue, improve profitability and help the business grow.

You’ll be working collaboratively with these expert consultants to win exciting new projects and be at the forefront of the latest innovations in the consulting space.

The role

We need a Business Development Manager to help us to win new clients and build on the commercial energy of our ambitious team. You will be responsible for prospecting new leads, setting and leading new business meetings, leading proposals and pitches, negotiating and closing sales and onboarding new clients. You will have an annual commercial target to work towards. As you progress, you will also have the opportunity to get involved in management/ mentoring.

You will also work closely with the marketing team and others in the business to develop ideas for content and initiatives.

Your skills and experience

  • Self-motivated and ambitious desire to exceed sales targets.
  • Able to develop a good understanding of a consultancy’s products and services, interpret data and articulate complex material in a clear manner.
  • Experience in researching and identifying new business opportunities – including new industries, growth areas, clients, new services – or new ways of reaching existing markets and individuals.
  • Able to think strategically – seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve ways of working.
  • Experience with generating leads and cold calling prospective clients.
  • Experience in seeking out the appropriate contact in an organisation and building professional relationships.
  • Experience with uncovering the needs of clients and ability to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these.
  • Must have proven success in closing sales and managing sales pipelines.
  • Must be confident in writing proposals, leading pitches and negotiating sales.
  • Previous cold calling / phone experience is preferable.
  • Previous experience in data/ insights/ consultancy is preferred.
  • Strong organisational skills; able to prioritise tasks and issues.
  • A self-starter with strong multi-tasking skills and desire to continue to learn.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to think outside of the box to help meet objectives.
  • Great at working independently to meet targets but also a team player, understanding how to draw upon the strengths of different members of your team to help meet project objectives.
  • Excellent face to face and written communication skills.
  • Have an appetite for understanding the needs of businesses across a range of sectors and keeping abreast of trends and changes in the business world.
  • Experience with overcoming challenging situations and ability to defuse critical client situations and take ownership as needed.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, PPT, Excel etc).
  • Experience with using a CRM system is preferred.
