The BBC and Populus

TV Licence survey

Populus interviewed 1,003 UK adults 18+ between 5th and 10th March 2020 using a telephone methodology (Computer Assisted Telephone Interview, or CATI, using an equal mix of mobiles and landlines). Quotas and weights were used to ensure the sample was representative of the adult population in the UK. A split sample was used in the survey to ensure that there was no ordering impact on responses. Half the sample, Split 1, saw Q0 before Q1a/b, while the other half, Split 2, saw Q0 after Q1a/b. Additionally, the ordering of Statement A and Statement B in Q1a was rotated across the sample so that there was no order effect.
