This poll,part of the regular monthy series for The Times,covered the leader index, preference of Government, the Government’s proposal to extend the time police are allowed to detain terror suspects, knife crime among young people and the recent price rises of petrol and diesel.

Populus interviewed a random sample of 1508 adults aged 18+ by telephone between 6th June 2008 and 8th June 2008. Interviews were conducted across the country and the results have been weighted to be representative of all adults.
